Did you know where were schemes out there that let you recycle your old clothes in return for new ones? I didn’t either until someone alerted me to it the other day.

Many leading clothes retailers have schemes where you can recycle your old clothes in return for voucher for new ones.

M&S, H&M, John Lewis, River Island, Schuh, New Look and George all run their own schemes that provide a voucher in return for recycling your old clothes.

Recycle your old clothes at M&S

Marks and Spencer are working with Oxfam to provide cash for old clothes.

Take good quality clothes direct to Oxfam in return for a £5 voucher for M&S. As long as they are in good condition and at least one item is actually from M&S, you’ll get your voucher.

There are conditions though. You’ll need to spend the voucher within the same month on a minimum spend of £35 in clothing or beauty.

If you’re an M&S loyalty member, you can recycle your clothes in exchange for Sparks loyalty gifts. Those gifts are random and apparently ‘tailored’ to each shopper.

    H&M

H&M are also running a clothes recycling scheme. Donate a bag of old clothes into an H&M store and you’ll get one voucher per bag.

You don’t need any H&M clothes in the bag like you do with M&S. You can also donate any cloth-based item including curtains, bedding, and so on, as long as it’s clean.

    John Lewis

John Lewis’ Fashion Cycle scheme accepts all kinds of old clothing and will give you £5 of store credit to spend on purchases.

You don’t need John Lewis branded items to qualify but you will need to spend store credit as soon as you get it. There’s a £20 minimum spend and you’re limited to clothing, including children’s wear.

One voucher per purchase, in-store only.

    River Island

River Island has the Re_skinned scheme. You’ll need to bag up your items and send it to a Re_skinned location and you’ll get a £5 voucher in return.

You’ll need to spend a minimum of £40 to use the voucher and you have just one month to spend it.

    Schuh

The Schuh ‘Sell Your Soles’ scheme offers a £5 voucher for every pair of shoes you donate to Recyclatex.

As long as you spend a minimum of £25, you can use the voucher online or in-store.

    New Look

New Look and Hospice UK have partnered to provide up to 15% off New Look items if you donate a bag of old clothing to Hospice.

The clothes will need to be in salable condition but otherwise, there are no limits to what you can recycle.

The voucher can only be used in-store but you can do this as many times as you like.

    George

George at Asda is also offering up to 10% discount on George items if you donate 10 or more clothing items.

You can drop clothing off at a participating Asda store as long as they are packed into 50cm x 30cm x 30cm parcels and weigh no more than 10kg per parcel.

If you’re planning a spring clean, now might be the perfect time to give your old clothes a new life in return for a voucher or discount.

We’re not talking big money here but every little helps!
